We are excited to host our first Date by the Book event at The Bookish Type on the 18th of July!

Whether you are searching for a new crush, a bookish bestie, or your next great love story, join us for our very first romance-themed Queer Speed Dating Night. This is the first of our genre-based queer speed dating events, where each event will bring together lovers of a different genre — from thriller to fantasy, horror to historical. In the spirit of love we’re kicking things off with romance!
What to expect:
Speed Dating Rounds: Chat with lovely folks for 5-minute mini-dates to see where the sparks fly.
Blind Book Swap: Bring your favourite romance book and swap it with another guest. When you pick someone’s book, you’ll get one-on-one time to talk about it. A new book and a new connection? Yes please!
Bookish Bingo & Trope Match Games: Fun icebreakers that get you chatting about your favourite queer romance tropes and filling in your bingo card for a chance to win prizes!
Whether you're hunting for romance, friendship, or just a night of bookish fun - this evening is for you.

18+ event.
All queer identities welcome.
Tickets are on a sliding scale (£5 / £3 / £0)
Please be honest about your financial situation when selecting what to pay for your ticket. If you purchase a ticket at the lowest end of the scale when you could afford the higher ticket prices, it makes it harder for us to provide financial flexibility to those who most need it.

Access Info
The shop has an 8cm step but we have a ramp we can put in place if required.
There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet and hand basin.
There is a range of seating including chairs that are armless with padded seats and backs, armless sofa, bench with cushions.
Face masks are encouraged but not required; an H13 HEPA air purifier will be in use.
On street parking available (charges may apply).
