As part of Queer History Club we are very excited to bring you a book talk, conversation and scrapbooking workshop with the authors of A Queer Scrapbook!
New book A Queer Scrapbook: Britain and Ireland since 1945 offers a treasure trove of LGBTIQ+ histories from across Britain and Ireland. Packed with materials, from interviews and newspaper articles to photographs and flyers, the book explores urban, rural and regional queer life since 1945. Join two of the book's editors, Justin Bengry and Matt Cook (along with Queer History Club facilitator Kit Heyam) to find out more about the book and the queer history it uncovers - and to start your own queer scrapbook! If you have any bits and pieces from your queer life (flyers, gig tickets, photos) that you've been meaning to do something with, bring them along - or just bring your memories to create a beautifully decorated queer journal page.
Materials (but not scrapbooks) provided: you can bring your own scrapbook to work on, or create a queer scrapbook page to take home and stick into a book later.
About the facilitators:
Justin Bengry is Senior Visiting Research Fellow at King's College London.
Matt Cook is Jonathan Cooper Professor of the History of Sexuality at the University of Oxford.
Kit Heyam is a Leeds-based heritage practitioner, trans awareness trainer, academic and author of Before We Were Trans.
