Join us for a Book Launch and Q&A hosted by Serge Nicholson and Eva Echo!

Contributors will join us to read from the new collection of autobiographical stories; written across generations and geographies, bringing together letters, poems and reflections from trans and non-binary writers.

Featuring live readings from: Eva Echo, Zorian Clayton, Gareth Gavin (alongside recordings from Alexandra R De Ruiz and Juno Roche); followed by an in conversation panel with the writers.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase on the night.

Serge Nicholson (he/they) is the co-founder of hotpencil press, a writer, editor, community queer history curator and trans arts practitioner with a back catalogue of trans arts productions from the Transfabulous arts festival years to the hotpencil press international book tours to consultant practitioner on Duckie’s Trans Daddy take over, (2024). Currently Serge is working on, A Hastings Queer History Collective Exhibition (2026). Serge is also a GSRD therapist, who has played a part in pioneering trans affirming services.

Eva Echo (she/they) is a distinguished activist, writer, and TEDx speaker, focusing on transgender rights, intersectionality, and mental health. Known for her compelling storytelling and insightful perspectives, Eva has become a powerful voice within the LGBTQIA+ community. One of Eva’s most significant achievements was her legal challenge against NHS England, addressing unlawful waiting times for trans patients.

Zorian Clayton (he/him) is a Curator of Prints at the V&A Museum and programmer at BFI Flaresince 2016.

Gareth Gavin (he/him) is an author: his second novel was published by Cipher Press in 2023 and shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize. He also writes short fiction and teaches Trans Theory at the University of Manchester.

Juno Roche (they/them) is a writer and campaigner whose work around class, gender, sexuality and trans lives has been funded by the likes of The Paul Hamlyn Foundation and described as ‘provocative and innovative’. They are the author of four books: Queer Sex, Trans Power, Gender Explorers, and their memoir, A Working-Class Family Ages Badly.

Alexandra R De Ruiz (she/her) is an author, advocate, teacher, translator, consultant researcher in gender and sexuality, and native of Mexico City.

Tickets are on a sliding scale (£8 /£5 / £3 / £0)

Please be honest about your financial situation when selecting what to pay for your ticket. If you purchase a ticket at the lowest end of the scale when you could afford the higher ticket prices, it makes it harder for us to provide financial flexibility to those who most need it.

Access Info

The shop has an 8cm step but we have a ramp we can put in place if required.
There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet and hand basin.
There is a range of seating including chairs that are armless with padded seats and backs, armless sofa, bench with cushions.
Face masks are encouraged but not required; an H13 HEPA  air purifier will be in use. 
On street parking available (charges may apply).
