Date by the Book - Queer Speed Dating Night

The time has come for our second Date by the Book event.

Always dreamed of falling in love in a bookshop? Now is your chance! 

October and horror go hand in hand, so of course that is our genre for this month. We encourage you all to dress up - there will be a prize for best costume!

Whether you’re searching for a new crush, a bookish bestie, or your next terrifyingly great love story, join us for our Horror-themed Queer Speed Dating Night. This is the second of our genre-based queer speed dating events, where each night will bring together lovers of a different genre: from thriller to fantasy, romance to historical.

What to expect:

Bookish Bingo & Trope Match Games: Fun icebreakers that get you chatting about your favourite horror tropes and filling in your bingo card for a chance to win prizes!

Speed Dating Rounds: Chat with lovely folks for 5-minute mini-dates to see where the sparks fly.

Blind Book Swap: Bring your favourite horror book and swap it with another guest. When you pick someone’s book, you’ll get one-on-one time to talk about it. A new book and a new connection? Yes please!

Whether you're hunting for romance, friendship, or just a night of bookish fun - this evening is for you.

18+ event.

All queer identities welcome.

Tickets are on a sliding scale (£8 / £5 / £3 / £0)

Please be honest about your financial situation when selecting what to pay for your ticket. If you purchase a ticket at the lowest end of the scale when you could afford the higher ticket prices, it makes it harder for us to provide financial flexibility to those who most need it.

Access Info

The shop has an 8cm step but we have a ramp we can put in place if required.
There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet and hand basin.
There is a range of seating including chairs that are armless with padded seats and backs, armless sofa, bench with cushions.
Face masks are encouraged but not required; an H13 HEPA  air purifier will be in use. 
On street parking available (charges may apply).
